Best for students who have not started their essay at all and need direction brainstorming ideas, picking an essay topic, understanding the structure of a college essay. This will give students a starting point to write their essay on their own.

Student will leave the workshop with: 

• A list of strengths and weaknesses through the lens of the SUNY COMMON APP essay prompts. 

• An understanding of what a strong and weak essay looks like and the do’s and don’ts of writing their own essay.  

• An understanding of opening lines and structure of a college essay to engage college admissions officers. 

• An understanding of how to incorporate show vs. tell personality traits in a personal story. 

• A brainstormed outline of two personal experiences to use as potential essay topics.

Includes: Workshop and ONE 30-minute one-on-one revisions session in-person.

Best for students who have started their essay and need some direction brainstorming additional ideas, picking a stronger essay topic, understanding the structure of a college essay, AND will need only ONE revisions session.
